Netarts Scopeout Survey

Posted by in Uncategorized

We were recently funded on a project to investigate storm impacts and the role of sea level anomalies on coastal erosion to the Netarts Littoral Cell, along the central Oregon coast! This winter has been characterized by anomalous weather in general – likely in part due to the ongoing El Nino conditions. One ramification of these weather patterns are sea levels that statistically higher than they normally are. When sea level anamolies such as these persist it allows wave energy to reach higher up on the beach face thereby increasing the likelihood of backshore flooding and erosion. More to follow on our ongoing surveying endeavors at Oceanside,OR and Cape Lookout State Park as part of this exciting project!
